Earlier this year I was rather discouraged to read about a 14 year old girl who had a secret abortion arranged by school staff without her parents knowledge STORY HERE - I am not going to go into the abortion argument so do not worry.
Yesterday however, I came across the story of the same girl who is pregnant AGAIN! STORY
I know that these things do happen and can get out of hand but for goodness sake what on earth is missing? In my opinion they REALLY need sex education and its time people stopped passing the buck. EVERYONE is responsible, parents, guidance councellors and teachers should be open about FACTS instead of letting these kids (and theyare still only kids) give each other mis-information.
When I was still a child, my mum bought a video tape specifically aimed at Sex Education. Some of you out there may have heard of it or seen it, it is called Where Did I Come From. This tape was a great tool for us (in my humble opinion) andI am thankful my mum was not too prudish or closed minded to show it to us - I must have been around 9 or 10 when we saw it and it has ALWAYS stuck in my mind and I beleive that it is part of why I am the way I am.
I am not prudish or shy about sex but I am not stupid and never even considered it until I felt I was ready.
Why is it that kids grow up so fast now? I get freaked out when I hear 11 and 12 year olds talking about fancying people and reading about them thinking about sex, come on everyone, stop being ashamed of it. We all do it (mostly) and its how we came to be here in the first place (again mostly) so for the love of god and in an effort to stop teens getting pregnant at 13 and 14 please be open and honest and not coy. This problem exists EVERYEWHERE in the world.
Sorry, I just had to rant a little
