Last night was movie night. It has been a while since we went to the cinema so I was pleased to go again.

We are both fans of the War of The Worlds story and although I half expected it to be based in London, I really enjoyed it.

Tom Cruise plays Ray Ferrier, a divorced dad of 2. After a heavy shift he heads home to meet his ex and take the kids for the weekend. Ray needs rest so he leaves the kids to entertain themselves. When he wakes up, his teenage son Robbie has taken off in his car and his 10 year old daughter is eating hummus!

When Ray heads out the door to look for Robbie he notices a lot of his neighbors staring past him at an unusual storm brewing......

After the storm, Ray goes to the center of town to try and find out what has happened and why there were over 24 lightening strikes in the same place. A group of people is crowding around a small hole in the road when the street starts to shake and the hole starts to get bigger......

I guess there are people who have never heard read or seen this story so I will not give it away. I will say that the special effects were outstanding and the man and I were quite tense sitting in the cinema!

Classic Spielberg!!!
