For a while now, my mum has been saying this is a book I have to read. She sent it to me a little while ago and I finished reading it yesterday afternoon.

Tully Maker is the daughter of Hedda Maker. Her father and brother left on fine day never to return and Hedda blamed her daughter for her husband and sons departure.

Tully rarely sleeps soundly, her nights are filled with dreams and memories - memories of being suffocated and coming very close to death. At the age of 5, Hedda leaves Tully to her own devices and a kindly lady looks after her after school - she has a daughter the same age, Julie and through her meets Jennifer. The three girls are practically inseparable throughout their times together.

Tully is stubborn and very independent and her personal tragedies make her seem cold though you see her deep emotions shine through. At Jennifers 18th birthday party, Tully meets Robin DeMarco who is awed by her and eventually she falls pregnant and they try to build a life together - no one said it would be plain sailing though.... Tully hates her mother for what she endured as a child and when Hedda has a stroke, Robin wants her to come and live in their house.

I hate to give anything away so all I can say is if you like a book that will really take you on an emotional roller coaster ride and you don't mind that its over 600 pages, you ought to read this. This book had me crying more than once and I loved it
