Phuket Zoo

posted Tuesday, 22 March 2005

I have been meaning to post a little more about the trip to Phuket Zoo - I had mentioned it briefly in November, but I had not gotten around to posting more until now....

November 29th was one of my most enjoyable days in Thailand. The only regret I have is that I didn't have a bigger SD Card in my camera.

We started off at Kata View Point which is just stunning. We then went to find Phuket Zoo, (not too hard to do). When you buy your entrance tickets, you are give a timetable of the animal shows. The first show we saw was the monkey show which was fun. We had a little time to wander around before the next show so we visited the aquarium, the gardens and saw some animals. The next scheduled show was the crocodile show - that was quite nerve wracking to see. It says a lot when the keepers pray before they do the show!!!

After we recovered, we met (and fed) some elephants. Then we wandered around a little before we watched the Elephant show.

On the way out we met a big cat and some little cats, that was the highlight of the visit. I had my photo taken with them. I had to laugh though, while I was hugging this enormous tiger, the keepers were telling the man he could get closer to take pictures - he didn't want to get closer so the keeper grabbed the tigers whiskers and tugged them while saying 'hes ok, no problem'. Needless to say the man freaked a little and I laughed!
