Blackberry Wine

I got this book by joining a book ring at bookcrossing, having seen Chocolat and then reading it too, I was looking forward to more of Joanne Harris' work. I think a good word to describe her work is sensuous.

Blackberry wine centres around Jay Mackintosh. The story switches from him as a teenages spending summers with Joewho teaches him about everyday magic, and him as an adult who once wrote a book and is yet to find happiness.

As an adult, Jay buys a chateau he sees in a magazine and decides to go and live in France. The place he goes to is  Lansquenet, the same place where Chocolat was set. It was lovely to revisit the characters from that book and to have mention of Viane, I felt as if I were going back to a place I loved.

I love reafding things I consider to have loosly pagan/earth loving themes and this definitely hit that mark with me
